Damage to the village landscape

Unfortunately, things happen that damage the authentic character of the old village. Below are three examples.

Neglect: the loss of a historic farmhouse.
This is what sadly happened to the beautiful old farmhouse of Lammert Calis at Angerechtsweg 12. This Saxon farmhouse was one of the oldest in Blaricum and a national monument. Below is a photo of the farmhouse from 1968.
In 2007, the building was deemed to be so neglected that it was removed from the list of national monuments.
The farm in October 2006

The land had been vacant for several years. A large villa, somewhat in the style of a farmhouse, has since been built on the site.

Fire: the loss of a monumental farm due to arson.

During the night of 15 to 16 August 2008, this old farm on the Middenweg (the coal and fuel trading company Widow Vos) went up in flames due to arson.
What remained after the fire: a sad mess!

Fortunately, the farmhouse was rebuilt in its original style, and the village's appearance was restored.

New construction: preserve the village character?
New office space has been built at the intersection of Torenlaan and Raadhuisstraat.
This box of blocks one would expect on an industrial estate. It's inconceivable to me that a permit was granted for this.
An example how it should not be done!
